SaveSearch vs Raindrop.io: organise your links, or just find them?
Raindrop.io is one of the best bookmark managers around. It's been going for years, it runs everywhere, and it's lovely to organise in. SaveSearch is newer and narrower. Here's how they differ, honestly.
| SaveSearch | Raindrop.io | |
|---|---|---|
| Best at | Finding a saved post by a word you remember | Organising lots of links into a tidy library |
| Filing | Never required; collections are optional | Collections, nested collections, tags |
| Search | Title, caption and your note for free; with Pro also article text, YouTube captions and screenshot text | Titles and links; full-text search on Pro |
| Why it matched | Shown on every result | No |
| Your own note | Yes, and it's searchable | Yes |
| Where it runs | Website, Chrome extension, iPhone and Android | Web, desktop apps, iOS, Android, extensions for most browsers |
| Free plan | Free on your device, no account | Generous free plan |
| Paid plan | Pro: $4.99 a month or $49.90 a year ($39.90 your first year until 31 Dec 2026) | Pro, billed monthly or yearly |
| Export | Markdown, CSV and JSON, on every plan | Yes |
Where Raindrop.io wins
If you enjoy organising, Raindrop is hard to beat. Nested collections, tags, highlights, permanent copies of pages on Pro, and apps for nearly every device and browser. For research projects with hundreds of carefully sorted links, it's a great home.
Where SaveSearch wins
SaveSearch is for people who don't want to organise at all. You save from Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, X or the web, add a few words about why if you like, and move on. Later you type whatever you remember, and SaveSearch searches the words inside the post and your note, then tells you why each result matched.
It's also built for social posts in particular. When Instagram or TikTok won't share a caption, SaveSearch says so instead of pretending, and you can paste the caption (or, with Pro, add a screenshot) so the words are searchable.
Which should you pick?
- Pick Raindrop.io if you like folders and tags, you need apps on every platform today, or you save mostly articles and documentation.
- Pick SaveSearch if you save a lot of social posts and videos, you'd rather not file anything, and you want to find things by the idea you remember.
