How to search your X (Twitter) bookmarks
X bookmarks are where great threads go to be forgotten. You bookmark a thread on hiring, a list of tools, a hot take you wanted to reply to later. Then you need it, and you're scrolling a list with no end.
Where your bookmarks are
- In the app: tap your profile picture to open the menu, then Bookmarks.
- On the website: Bookmarks is in the left sidebar.
They're in the order you saved them, newest first.
Can you search them?
It depends on your account. Some accounts see a search box at the top of Bookmarks, and paying accounts can sort bookmarks into folders. Many accounts get neither. If you don't see a search box, there isn't one for you, and you're scrolling.
Even with search, it only looks at posts that still exist. If the author deletes a thread or locks their account, your bookmark quietly stops showing it.
Finding one right now
- Search X for the words. X's main search supports
from:usernameif you remember who posted it. Try a distinctive word plusfrom:and you'll often land on it. - Check your likes. Plenty of "bookmarked" threads were actually liked. Your likes are on your profile.
Keeping threads you care about
If a thread is worth bookmarking, it's worth keeping the words. Threads get deleted, accounts go private, and X changes what free accounts can do.
SaveSearch saves the post's link along with the text it can read, plus your own note like "hiring framework, use for the ops role". Searching any of those words later finds it, and you still have the words even if the post is gone. When X won't share the text, you'll see "Link only" and can paste it in yourself.
On a computer, the Chrome button saves the post you're looking at in two clicks. On iPhone or Android, tap Share on the post, then choose SaveSearch, or paste the link at use.savesearch.app.
